All the hoopla of moving my external drive around has somehow broken all my torrents.

uTorrent can't tell that their in the same place as always, and restarted everything.

Right, so I was told to bring something, anything to fill up time in this shift.

Despite all the black ice out there, I loaded up my computer in a durable ikea bag and hauled it over.

I was starting to get a tad bored so I decicded it was about time to hook it up....

....Dang thing has the wrong moniter plug ins and I didn't bring the converter. @_@

Failure. Just like the ipod at home.

I lent the cable to a friend so I couldn't charge or update it.

So at home I borrowed a cable to charge up and figured with some crafty work I could update it.

Took out my external drive, copied iTunes as to not disrupt my mom's playlists. Removed all music from iTunes without deleting the files. Imported all my music from my external without it going into my mom's itunes music folder. Imported the playlist I had exported at home. But because it was a 'different' itunes it couldn't just updated and needed to completly rewrite.

It took a while but I thought I had done it. Nope. See an imported playlist is apparantly different then one you make and doesn't transfer over.

And because it needed to completly rewrite I therefor lost all playlists on my ipod.

Fine I said as I twitched in the car. Once at my aunt's I'll just remake the playlist on my own.

Nope, because my playlist included songs I 5-stared and that wouldn't be on this itunes.

Fine,I said as I twitced once more, it's F***ed for now but I can fix it when I get home.

Nope, no cable because I havn't got it back yet.

So no ipod, and no computer, the only thing I brought because if it was working I wouldn't need to have brought anything else. Blah.

Simply blah.

So here I an nearky 2 hours into my 12 hour shift.

I have been awake since 10 this morning, and I imagine it will be close to 10am by the time I get to sleep again.

Christmas... well... what can I say.

It was christmas eve and my brother had plans to go out with friends. However our familly has a tradition where the father reads 'The Night Before Christmas', the entire things. Front to back with all the small print, copyright and legal text. This happens every year, EVERY YEAR.

However this year was our first without Poppy, my grandfather. And thus my mother was understandably a tad emotional.

She asked my brother to wait before he left so we could still do it.

Enter drama and lots of it. Now frankly, I can perfectly understand why my brother would be a tad pissy when it's over an hour later and the story still hasn't been read. What didn't help at all was my grandmother edging him on and mocking him.

Adding on to the fact that once they HAD begun the story, Jason's friends started showing up wondering what's taking him so long. This did not help.

And there I was, playing the same role I always do. Despite not liking christmas, for exactly reasons such as this, and being bored with nothing to talk about that my familly has any interest in, I sat there being the good one. My mother on the edge of screaming dealing with my brother, is happy that I'm simply there.

And that kind of explains my weekend. That general theme fits most holidays.

Plus an awkward talk from my grandmother that was bascily her attempt at trying to get me to go back to school.

It's tiring, it's not fun, and I'm happy I'm home. Granted I'm at work.... I'd rather be at home, Kim and Lauren are up from the states for the first time in a year.

Actually scratch that, Jay and Kim hav't seen each other in a year so being at work for the first night is probably better. XD

Anyway, negative as it is, that's my holiday post, let's hope for a good new years.

It being Christmas Eve and all, I was thinking of this Christmas story and drew it up. I meant to draw it nicer, but didn't get time.  It's about family.

under the cut, because it's big )

If it helps to understand it better, I am the second oldest of four girls.

Merry Christmas, everyone! To you and yours.

Well, it's been quite a year. So much has happened.

This has been the first year I've spent employed from January to December. I started the year off hung over, according to this old journal of mine I found. Awesome. As I'm looking through the pages I wrote, it seems so far away. The city was in the middle of the bus strike. There were still one or two people who I would soon cut out of my life.

"I now have about $350 in my bank account, the lowest amount in months" - January 2nd. This was mostly leftover money from my job in Montreal. Now, it's the opposite: if I have more than $150 or so, I feel rich.

On January 3rd, I decided not to report my feelings to anyone, and this lasted a week. It was enlightening, I have to say. It might even have permanently changed the way I look at people, and it definitely made me a better listener. There's cryptic poetry as an entry for January 19th, I can post it if anyone's curious - I think it's decent but I can't remember what it's about.

During the bus strike I had plenty of opportunities to sit in the university library and watch the sun rise, and see the smoke coming out of the big campus chimney. The bus strike was hell for me, but I was so glad to be back in school I would have walked to campus if I had to.

I turned 20.

The most fun class I had all semester was definitely Witchcraft, Magic and the Occult. It was a bird course, but it was so cool. Not to mention very metal. It was great seeing everyone in there who made fun of the class or material just to seem cool and not, I guess, gothy or wacko. At the same time it was saddening to see how few people have a sense of curiosity. That's what basically drives my life; I love to experiment.

I started to listen to less metal this year. I listen to almost none now. Music is still a huge part of me - I was watching a movie at home today and struggled not to pick up the guitar and play arpeggios. I'm listening to bands I've never heard before right now.

Somewhere in April, Rachel entered my life, and it's been wonderful ever since!

I got a big fat cheque from the government, and used it to travel to Vancouver and visit Dot. That was awesome. I've never spent such huge amounts of money in my life. For a while, I was regular poor, not extreme student poor. So much good beer on the west coast, holy shit. I was thinking about the highlights of the trip, and besides seeing an old friend again, they were alcohol-related. Strangely though I wasn't that drunk all the time.

There were a few months when I tried my hardest to get a new fuckin' job. But it all came to nothing, and left me feeling really crappy about myself, no matter how much I blamed the economy.

I went hitchhhiking with Josh, and we made it to the East coast! Took a dip in the sea and left for home. Only regret: not trying lobster. Second regret: being so whiny and moody.

School started again in September, no big news there except one of the best classes I've taken: Medieval philosophy. That was really fun. First time I've ever had to drop a course was this semester, I failed the midterm and didn't want to risk failing the course.

I joined a band, and played two shows with them. It wasn't my style, so I quit. They are really good people, though, and I hope they get some recognition when they get their act together. It made me realize that I want to have music as a part of my life no matter what. Maybe I'll just collect guitars when I'm rich. Maybe I'll decide to be a musician and be poor. Maybe I'll just play in my bedroom, where I'm free to change keys, tempos, screw up, change my mind halfway through a riff, and play one note for two minutes. I'd like to start a band, but the scene here is so dead. Maybe I'll move to Montreal.

About a month ago I decided to fix up my wardrobe, since I dress like I'm still 16. To that end, I decided not to buy any t-shirts, or anything black. So far, so good. Problem is having to buy clothes.

There's a lot of other stuff that went on this year, that I don't want to or I'm too tired right now to mention. I'd like to thank all the wonderful people in my life.

We had to dress up at work today...as in..no jeans. Sure to some of you, that is a staple at work, but not at an animation studio! We have one "suit day" a year!
Anyways...my date? Santa.

The best part of the day is I think when our director misunderstood the "Dress Up" concept...and came dressed as a Chicken.

A bit dark at times but they have a great electro-rock feel.

Check em out.

The last day before Christmas eve....

I shouldn't really need to re-iterate AGAIN but as you all should know I love the christmas season but generally dislike Christmas itself.

Thankfully this year it's only going to be 3 days long and I'll be back on the 27th.... just in time for my 12 hour shift. Before returning to my normal work week.

Parents pick me up tomorrow for dinner with all grandparents at once (of whom now every time I speak to my parents I'm told of how old their getting) and then Christmas Day off to Montreal for a night. That actually shouldn't be so bad as I haven't been to my aunt's place in nearly 4 years now and it's only a 2 hour drive as opposed to the usual 4 hour drive to Toronto.

Things to do today-

Get Mom's gift.

Do laundry.

Anyway, Yule was pretty good, I like it when the coven gets together even if not everyone is present.

Probably won't be posting again until after the 27th so to everyone have the best of holidays, what ever they may be.

A Scottish cartoon, since I am back home for the holidays.

I'm well acquainted with the tune "Lord Lovat's Lament," since you hear it around these parts every time anyone has to pick up a fiddle and learn something. But you know, it's one of those tunes you know so well, you pay no attention to it, it's just there in the back of your head.

Then one day, I was looking up a bunch of works by Hogarth (the best) and came upon this portrait of 'Lord Lovat'. The lovely old tune and that devily face, they didn't match. So I wanted to learn more about him!

Lovat (Simon Fraser, born 1697 - there are about a million Simon Fraser Lord Lovats) really epitomizes how reading Scottish history can make you want to tear your eyeballs out, or laugh because it's nearly a farce it's so nutty. Either the people involved are disastrously loyal, or disastrously duplicitous. Everything is a disaster, but it's a hell of a ride.

So they did a poll in Canada as to which was The Greatest Hockey Team in Canada
http://www.thehockeynews.com/articles/29714-The-Habs-are-Canadas-team-Onethird-of-Canadians-think-so-poll-says.html
I am okay and not very surprised with the results. I found it interesting that in second place was Toronto Maple Leafs/Leaves AND "No One" I admit, I kinda thought that the Oilers would come in third place...what with that whole Wayne Gretzky kid.
It is interesting that they mention the "Hockey Sweater" Born to a non-Hockey watching family my first exposure was the The Hockey Sweater/Le chandail de hockeyin French Class. That was where I learned to like the Montreal Canadians as the little boy went to the church to "Pray that moths would come to eat his stinking Toronto Maple Leaf sweater..."
Later I learned to love the Ottawa Sens the mostest....but buried deep in my heart...I still have a soft spot for the Canadiens. Which is why all of you getting cards mailed to you this year will have the Montreal Canadian stamp stuck to the corner and why I have the Canadiens loonie stuck to my office wall.

PS. I have never been to a Major League Hockey Game in my life, and it baffles me as to why I know random hockey facts. One day maybe someone will go with me.
